The Fred D. Pfening Company was founded in 1919 when Fred D. Pfening sold his bakery to enter the bakery equipment business. In the late 1920's, the company pioneered liquid metering, and in the 1930's developed a final proofer. By the 1950s it was one of the first firms to design and build bulk pneumatic conveying systems for bakeries. In the 1980s, Pfening added small ingredient batching systems and more sophisticated PLC and PC based control systems to provide greater capability.
Today, as one of the oldest firms in the bakery equipment industry, Pfening is positioned to offer the complete range of proven technologies required in the modern bakery. Our people, along with our history of service experience, continue to be our greatest strengths and a source of pride.
